I'd recommend you reset your printer.

Hi thanks for that - I though this would be the case as I believe there is a rogue registry entry somewhere causing the issue - with MS not recommending reg cleaners for Windows 10  it really is now a case of performing a clean install and starting again!

 

As I  have all the functionality I need using HP Smart app I will carry on using that until I am in a position to do a reinstall.

 

Thanks for your suggestions and fixes over the last week or so, they were all worth a shot but in this instance it looks like a fresh start is the only option.
