HP Officejet 5740 All in One

I recently updated my MacBook Pro to Big Sur 11.1. Now my HP Officejet 5740 All in One series will not print and keeps getting software corrupt or missing error notices. I've done everything, including calling Mac Help, which could not help since HP provides updates only to OS 11. Mac Help put me through all the steps I did myself and then gave me a non-working toll-free HP number. There appears to be no way to get real-person help except through a forum, which I've never tried until now since I've never had a problem

I've downloaded HP Smart to no avail and looked at all the videos I care to. This is very frustrating and irresponsible for HP not to provide the latest update for Mac's latest OS.

I can't print and there is no way I am going out to buy a new printer since this one is not that old and has worked perfectly until now.

Please HELP!! Thanks

Hi,

Please follow below version of HP Easy Start, as soon as it launches open the top HP Easy Start menu and select Uninstall HP Software.

Follow the steps on screen and then click on Set Up New Device and follow the steps to reinstall the printer:

The help e-mail from SholmiL arrived in my spam folder! I was wary but tried calling an active HP 800# to check validity and of course reached no one since it was completely virtual. I had to trust reply was legit.

There was no "uninstall" menu so I just went through the steps to download the new software but did it twice since I kept getting a "HPD framework will damage your computer" warning.

Again, I just decided to go with the download and it was successful in the end, thank goodness! I received the reply to my forum question the very next day, so am thankful there is a way to reach a real HP contact even if I couldn't actually talk to one.

I have the EXACT SAME problem. It's so frustrating. I'm about to throw this printer out and just buy a new one, which is disappointing because I've had this one for 8 years.

Please let us know your printer model @KristinA14, the 5740 model exists much less than 8 years and software options varies for different printers.

Generally, I recommend reviewing if below information may applicable for your printer model:
