My printer worked fine, and connected fine back when I used Windows 11, however I switched operating systems and now want to use my phone. But the printer refuses to connect through wifi or bluetooth now.

I put the serial number into the, "Search by serial number" option in missing a device. And it's in my available printer options, but whenever I click "Add printer" it just takes me into the printer's profile.

Hi @carson32,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand how  it must feel when your printer was working smoothly before, but now the HP Smart app isn’t connecting. Dont worry we’ll get you back up and printing from your phone.

Could you please share the exact printer model number ?

Here are some  steps you can try :

01.Verify Printer Wi-Fi Connection

The printer must be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.

On the printer’s control panel, open Wireless Settings

Confirm it shows your home Wi-Fi network

If not, reconnect using the Wireless Setup Wizard

02.Restart Devices

Refreshing connections often resolves pairing issues.

Power off the printer, wait 30 seconds, then turn it back on

Restart your phone

Relaunch the HP Smart app

03.Forget and Re-add Printer

Clearing old connection data helps the app detect the printer cleanly.

In HP Smart, remove the printer if listed

Tap Add Printer again and select your device from the list

04.Check Bluetooth Permissions

On your phone, go to Settings → Apps → HP Smart → Permissions

Ensure Bluetooth and Location are enabled

05.Update HP Smart App

Open your phone’s app store

Search for HP Smart

Install any available updates

I hope this helps.

I'm an HP Employee.
