MacBook Air (M2, 2022)

I bought the HP DeskJet 2810e, both ink cartridges are full and printing in colour when I do the test page but when I print from my laptop it doesn't print colour. I have looked in setting, system preferences and I can't see how to change it anywhere. how do I change it so that it prints in colour?

Thankyou

@Nicolaeva96, Hello and welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your question. I'm here to help you get things back on track.

Since your HP DeskJet 2810e prints color on the test page but not from your MacBook Air (M2, 2022), the issue is likely related to the print settings on macOS. Here's how you can fix it:

Steps to Enable Color Printing on macOS:

  1. Open the document you want to print.
  2. Click File > Print (or press Cmd + P).
  3. In the Print dialog, make sure your HP DeskJet 2810e is selected.
  4. Look for a drop-down menu that might say "Copies & Pages", "Layout", or "Print Settings".
  5. From that menu, choose "Color Options" or "Quality & Media" (the exact name may vary).
  6. Ensure "Print in Grayscale" or "Black & White" is unchecked.
  7. Select Color or Auto under the color settings.
  8. Click Print.

If you don’t see these options, click “Show Details” in the bottom-left of the print dialog to expand the full settings.

Optional: Reinstall the Printer Driver

Sometimes macOS uses a generic driver that may not support full color options. You can reinstall the printer using HP's official software:

  • Download and install the HP Smart app for macOS from the Mac App Store. HP Smart
  • Use HP Smart to add your printer, check ink levels, and manage print settings.

I hope the information shared has been useful and resolves your concern.

Wishing you a smooth and hassle-free experience ahead!
