Printer will not print or copy.  Paper feeds through and the printer acts as if it were printing but doesn't.  However, variouis Test pages do print.  So not an ink issue.  Have internet connection.  When sending doc to printer via email, the printer comes alive but same issue - paper feeds but no printing.  Tried Print/Scan Dr. (several times) and all is OK.  Uninstalled printer/driver and reinstalled.  Same issue.  Tired unplugging/restarting computer and printer.  Same problem.  Just a defective machine?  It's only 15 months old.

@vinoboy,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details,

  • When was the last time the printer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?

If the issue persists, I recommend you below the below steps and check whether the issue is resolved.

1. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer and also unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

2. Remove USB cable, if present.

3. Wait for 2-3 minutes, press and hold the power button on your printer for about 30 seconds to remove any additional charge.

4. Now plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector or an extension cord (This is important) and then plug back the power cord to the printer.

5. Turn on the printer and wait till warm-up period finishes and the printer is idle.

If you continue facing the issue, I recommend you follow the steps in the below article and check if it helps.

Printer worked a couple of weeks ago.  No hardware or software changes since then.

The unplug/power off recomendation did not solve the problem.  Tried it twice.

I did, however, find that pure color (not b&w) printing and copying works.  For example if I change the font in a plain document from black to color, it prints fine - i color.  The black cartridge still has ink and Test pages will print in b&w.

I aso tried the various solutions in the link you provided (several times) and they did not fix the problem.

On a whim I changed the black ink cartridge (despite there still being ink) and that did the trick.
