I was in a store today and might buy an HP OfficeJet 6954 All-In-One printer. I wanted to check out more detail on your HP site, which I did. I downloaded the following printer software pack in case I get the printer:
HP Webpack 165 MB
OJ6950__Full_WebPack_1094
I went to this download through downloads for Windows XP SP3 on your site, so guess it is the right one for all Windows versions XP to 10.
I need a printer which will work with my old computer with OS Windows XP SP3, which supposedly this printer does. It will also work with a new Windows 10 computer we are about to buy.
However, I have a concern about the software installation on my old Windows XP computer:
Question 1:
Does the CD software which comes with the printer, or the software I downloaded. install Microsoft .NET Frameworks on my computer when I install the software for the printer?
PLEASE NOTE: I can not install any .NET Frameworks on my old Windows XP SP3 Home 32bit computer because it then becomes instable gradually over several days and then it fails to bluescreen and blackscreen problems--otherwise, the old computer works fine indefinitely. Just about when updates stopped for Windows XP from Microsoft in 2014, Microsoft sent out a directive not to install any .NET Frameworks in any Windows XP version.
Question 2:
Is the CD software with the printer the same as the software I downloaded from your site?
Question 3:
If I install the CD version to get started, should I also then install the web pack version I downloaded to get full features of the printer? And is the web pack version I downloaded the same one to install it on a new Windows 10 computer? (We may get a Win10 32bit or maybe 64bit Pro computer).
Please note: We can only get slow dialup at home in our little town, so I must go to our city Library and use the Windows 10 free computers and extreme high speed internet to check email and to download large files like your printer software. So I hope I have an answer tomorrow.
Thanks, need a quick answer so I can get the printer while it is on sale at that store.

Hi,
- The HP Software requires .Net Framework 3.5, it cannot be installed without a such installed on your computer.
- The software CD and the latest web release are the same
- Only basic functionality is offered for Windows XP, installing the CD would be the only requirement, no additional software need to be installed from hp.com.
- for Windows 10 I suggest downloading the latest software from hp.com in the future, it is not the same version as available for XP.

Thanks to SchlomiL for the excellent clarification. I should add I finally made contact with HP Support by phone about this printer used with XP, with result:
Connect the printer. Can only print, not scan or any advanced function . Will print double-sided. Do not install the CD (presumablly because .NET Frameworks destabailizes my old 2005 Windows XP SP3 eventually, causing "...the shell stopped unexpectedly..." etc). Guess this basic HP printer is not for me.
ANYONE GOT A SUGGESTION FOR A PRINTER BRAND OR MODEL FOR XP SP3?
Getting hard to find a printer for old XP, and Epson stopped making ink for my old Epson CX4600 apparently in August. Managed to find 3 cartridge sets on Amazon, et al. All origin unknown,a so-called 4-pack came as individual ctgs. made in Japan, no visible mfg. date or expiration date until installed, but may work OK, as source referenced from Epson Support. Another set probably made in China (?) with funny brown printing on the back of the cartridge plastic envelope. Another multipack from amazon supplier came as multi-pack OK, but expiration in Feb. 2019. Maybe all these will work, maybe not. I use a set every 3-4 months, so I will find out. Wish me luck. Time for a new Win 10 computer.
