J ai le même problème

HP Recommended

Same problem here for the last few days.

The suggested solutions don't work.

Plus, as I have an instant ink solution I can't disable firmware updates (all options greyed and the printer admin page says I have a subscription).

Thanks for bricking my printer !!!! Now it goes in a stale state every day, and humourously when the printer is stuck trying to update you can see the nginx (open source webserver) defaut page. What a joke. Next printer: dumber, non online, not connected, not subscribed, probably not made by HP...

Disclaimer, the following part is for computer nerds, professionals, read and use at your own risks.

I evaluated how you can block the printer upgrades, something like setting a web proxy and blocking the requests updates on the web proxy itself. So the printer can still connect the internet and hp smart app, but not their upgrade server.

So far it seems the printer actualy manage to connect HP update servers, the file are available for download as you can download them with a regular browser:

CONNECT May 10 09:51:08 [663871]: Request (file descriptor 7): GET http://h10141.www1.hp.com/pub/inkjet/updates/malbec/MALBECPP1N001.2314A.00/lbi_blob.MALBECPP1N001.23... HTTP/1.1
CONNECT May 10 09:51:12 [663842]: Request (file descriptor 7): GET http://h10141.www1.hp.com/pub/inkjet/updates/malbec/MALBECPP1N001.2314A.00/rootfs.MALBECPP1N001.2314... HTTP/1.1

Based on the file names it seems to me like a regular firmware update, the full firmware partition plus something like the loader and kernel or core files.

It means that either the printer get the files and don't like what's inside, or something broke the update client on the printer.

Anyway, this hack works here...  Using tinyproxy's URL filter with the following expression forbids the printer to contact HP's update server. All the rest sill work well (scan, printing etc).

"hp\.com\/pub\/inkjet\/updates"

Refer to tinyproxy documentation for your own setup (warning: it requires knowledge about setting up a linux server and stuff). Or you may happen to have a raspberry running the pi-hole.net distribution, that would do with lower skills prerequisite.

Result in proxy log:

NOTICE May 10 10:04:52 [668741]: Proxying refused on filtered url "http://h10141.www1.hp.com/pub/inkjet/updates/malbec/manifests/MALBECPP1N001.2243A.00.xml"

Result on the printer:

"L'imprimante n'a pas pu se connecter aux Services Web.
Il est possible que Services Web soit occupé ou temporairement indisponible. Veuillez réessayer ultérieurement."

It looks good to me, use it at your own risks. The boss may get a little nervous if he can't print his precious excel KPIs 😉

Hi,

blacklisting "hp\.com\/pub\/inkjet\/updates" made the trick on proxy. Thanks !

HP support, what are you waiting to resolve this critical issue ????

HP Recommended

@Rainbow23 Oh dear, this is totally unrelated to the issue we have here. But thanks anyway.

Hi @cyayon,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

Please follow the steps listed below to uninstall and reinstall HP Smart App:

Step 1: Uninstall HP Smart App.

1. Navigate to and open Settings

2. Select Apps or Application Manager from the device Settings

3. Select HP Smart

4. Select Uninstall

Step 2: Reinstall HP Smart App.

1. Download the HP Smart app from 123.hp.com (Android, Apple iOS, iPad OS),

or HP Smart - Microsoft Store (Windows),

or HP Smart - Mac App Store (Mac).

2. Open the HP Smart app.

3. The app searches for recently installed printers.

- If your printer displays, click it. If you are setting up a new printer, it might display with Set-Up under the name.

- If your printer does not display, click the Plus sign, and then follow the on-screen prompts to add your printer or set up a new printer.

Let me know if this helps and have a good day.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!

I have already tested this.

The issue persist of course.

just look at the forum, there plenty of users with the same problem.
the issue is on HP firmware website.

I have this same problem - printer continually trying to download an update to the firmware and failing.

If I use the Officejet Pro embedded web server and go to the Printer Updates / Firmware Updates page and click the "Check Now" button to check for an update, this starts the check process but it never completes, never returns.

I look for Software & Driver downloads on the HP Customer Support website and:

a) there is a message there saying "A critical firmware update is available for your HP printer. Download and install now"

b) I am able to find a firmware updater program for MacOS for my 8025 printer = OJP8020_8030_2243A.dmg

c) When I download and run the updater program, point it at my printer, it refuses to perform a firmware update claiming that it does not contain an update for my printer.

It looks like there is a bug in HPs system here - and it is breaking our printers since they go offline when they check for the firmware update.

I'm getting exactly the same problem so it must be an HP f/w issue.  When is this likely to be resolved? It's obviously a "critical" bug so I hope this has been and is currently being worked on by the labs.

Same troubles in here with the firmware update. Tried everything .First with Android app, then directly with the HP printer display and finally with the laptop (Windows 10): then I got message the printer has already the latest firmware. Resetting printer no success.

I, like many others it seems, have the exact same issue.

Take this all with a massive pinch of salt, but I have just phoned HP, since no-one on the forums seems to know anything about it. But they've just told me it's a known global issue which they're working on, and guestimated a resolution of the end of this week.

Why they couldn't have someone spend two seconds to write that on the forums instead of me, I'm not sure. But at least we can all stop trying every pointless manual process that their troubleshooting guides recommend for now.

Also having this issue with my OfficeJet Pro 8022.

Hope its resolved ASAP as its very annoying lol
