Hello
I am having the same issues. However when it brings up the update failed error message with 'OK' or 'Retry', when selecting retry, it gets stuck on screen saying 'Downloading' and stays at 00%.
Only way to temporarily fix it for about 10-15 mins is to turn off the printer and back on, before it tries to update again.
The fix mentioned on page 4 only seems to be those for Windows PCs. I have Mac OS and tried using HP Smart app to update printer without success. Now it shows Welcome to NGINX message whenever I enter IP address into browser to try and update the printer when it is stuck on downloading.
Surely HP should be reimbursing the Instant Ink fees for the duration I have not been able to use my printer - 4 weeks now.

Would someone who has made this work on Windows be good enough to post some step-by-step instructions. I've tried all the links in earlier posts and I always seem to end up at the page shown in the screenshot. This only appears to give the option to download the SetUp software again via HP Smart. How do I get the firmware update ?
Thanks for any help you can give.

I've got this very same issue and I have tried the recommended fix from Martin on page 4 but this fails. I have a Macbook and the only option on the website is to download HP Smart App and use that to then update the printer.
The Smart App has a Check Now and it basically tells to printer to go away and download the update, just as it has been doing all by itself. Same symptoms, the printer report Download Unsuccessful and the HP Smart App just sits there saying Downloading updates.... Completed 0%

It even says on the right hand side "Critical firmware update available for your printer..." then when you click the link, it doesn't give you an option to download the firmware update - just the HP Smart software.
Has anyone got a direct link to the firmware download?

I spent almost 1.5 hrs yesterday with tech support remoted in to my PC. At the end they were unable to resolve this. Apparently this is a widespread problem which HP have been aware of for some time, I was told they are working on a solution, which is fine however there are an awful lot of people suffering this problem and HP are taking their sweet time whilst happily taking monthly subscriptions for ink.

Yes, this is a known problem.
Support have a manual firmware update (Malbec Lite Yeti_Windows_FDUTool.zip) which you can apply over USB, but you need a login to https://ftp.usa.hp.com/hprc/ to be able to get it.
Except in my case you can't as the printer doesn't show up in the list. So support are escalating for me at the moment.
If you raise a case in the virtual assistant
