I'm trying to set up our wireless printer.  I'm having two problems:

First, when going through the printer setup, it asks for HP Support help (or whatever it is) that asks usage for the printer.  I'm trying to select "Home" and "For Work-related Use."   My issue is that it will not let me advance by clicking on the "Confirm" button.  I keep going back and trying all other combinations but none of them advance when selecting "Confirm."

My second issue is when I go to my iPad or iPhone to try to print.  I go to settings and select Wi-Fi and I find the printer listed in there.  However, when I click on the printer and try to join, it asks me for a password.  I did not set up any password.  Am I missing somewhere in the directions where it states a password?

Thank you

HI,

I understand you are trying to print with iPad and iPhone and you are trying to select the printer name in WiFi settings to connect.

The printer name showing in WiFi settings is called WiFi Direct and can be used if you don't have a home router. I suggest you connect your printer, iPhone, and iPad all to your home wireless network and disable WiFi Direct.

You can find your User Guide here.

Page 91 shows how to connect printer to home network

Set up the printer on your wireless network Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel display to set up wireless communication. NOTE: Before you proceed, go through the list at Before you begin. 1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless). 2. Touch ( Settings ). 3. Touch Wireless Settings. 4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup. 5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup. If you are already using the printer with a different type of connection, such as a USB connection, follow the instructions in Change the connection type to set up the printer on your wireless network.

Next go to page 94 and disable WiFi Direct. The steps show how to turn it on.  Turn it off instead.

To turn on Wi-Fi Direct 1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wi-Fi Direct). 2. Touch ( Settings ). 3. If the display shows that Wi-Fi Direct is 2ff , touch Wi-Fi Direct and then switch it on.

Then on your iPad and iPhone go to WiFi Settings and connect to your home network.

You can find further information on how to print from an iOS device here.

Thanks Stretch. That has helped me familiarize myself with the printer. But what I’m having an issue is with the Wi-Fi Direct. I CANNOT connect through my iPhone/iPad setting WiFi because the printer is secured. It asks for a password to join. I have not been given a password for it, nor could I have even possibly set up a password.

Move entered in the WiFi router password, but that doesn’t help.

Many solutions on how to circumvent or determine what the password is?

thanks

Hi,

Did you follow the steps to disable WiFi Direct on the printer and then connect the printer and iOS devices to your home network? If you did these steps can you please provide a screenshot of the message you are seeing so I can understand what password is being asked?
