Product: OfficeJet Pro 6978 All in one
Operating System: Microsoft Windows Vista (64-bit)

I just purchased this printer, Office Jet Pro 6978, All In One Printer.  It will not let me download the driver listed in the steps to set it up, it fails everytime.  I tried using the CD that came with, it gave me a message "The Operating System of this computer is not supported."   So will this printer not work on my 64 bit?  Or does that even matter?  My computer is HP as well.  Where can I find a driver download for this printer for my operating system?  When it does print, it prints nonsense.  %%beginprolog  %%beginresource: file and on and on with stuff like this.  I'm at a loss...Any help would be great.

Hi,

Sorry, but the printer is not supported on Widnows Vista 64-bit.

 

64-bit support is only offered to Windows 7 or later operating systems.

 

You may find the printer specifications below:

The following system requirements are for Windows Vista 32-bit operating systems. Vista 64-bit is not supported.

You will need to upgrade your operating system to a later version to use a 64-bit OS, insall Windows Vista 32-bit instead or replace it with a different printer, compatible with your operating system.
