OfficeJet Pro 6978 not installing on MacOS Mojave

Hi, I could install printer driver on my Macbook Air. However, when HP Easy Start attempts to install the Setup and Product Guide, it fails with a very "informative" message - "cannot istall software." 

No success after several attempts. 

I could locate and add the printer through "Printer & Scanner" in the System Preference. But not sure I would be able to get the printer working w/o the HP software install. 

Any help or pointers will be highly appreciated!

Most of the HP printers uses driverless technologies such as AirPrint or IPP, which don't require additional drivers on your Mac. Since you have already added the printer in the Mac Printers & Scanner, I'm sure you wouldn't have any issues printing and scanning. However, HP Easy Start also install the printer essential software along with the printer driver. If you would like to use the HP printer essential software, then you may download and install it from here.

Thank you for the quick response. The package that was referred to installed HP Utility on my machine. However, when I launched it, the utility could not locate the installed printer. 

I was also looking for activating the two-sided printing.  Now I found that option under that using Print-> Copy and Pages -> Layout menu.

You are welcome! Glad to hear that you were able to locate the two sided printing option. I believe you have to click the plus sign  located on the bottom left on the HP Utility and then add the printer.
