I just purchased an OfficeJet Pro 7740 and would like to setup it up via a printer queue on Windows Server 2019 so my users can access it without installing the entire suite of software. I was able to do that using the universal driver package but was unable to using the Basic Webpack 40.16.1234 which is what the download page provided. When I try to change the driver on the queue I already setup, I get a message that the printer could not be save - "This operation is not supported."
The printer is being setup on as a shared print queue on a Windows Server 2019 machine. The intention is for end users (Win10/Win11) to print through the queue for centralized management. It is preferable not to install unnecessary software on the server so the minimal driver that will work for all 3 OSs is what I'm looking for.....in a shared print queue, the driver will be passed down to the client when accessing the queue so we do not have to manually install anything other than the server.
Is there a different driver for loading into Windows Server 2019 and serving up to Windows 10/11 clients?
