HP Officejet Pro 8620 e-All-in-One Printer

we installed a new Cox Panoramic Wifi Modem. My HP OfficeJet Pro 8620 will not connect wirelessly. I get an error about MAC address filtering being enabled on my wireless router BUT Cox assures me there is no such setting on this modem. I should be able to connect directly. The printer sees the network, asks me for either the password or button press, but still never connects. Help Me!! Please!!

Hi @JULIEP6,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Check Network Settings:

  • Ensure your network is broadcasting its SSID (network name).
  • Make sure your network password is correct.

Printer Network Reset:

  • Reset the network settings on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8620:
    • Navigate to the printer control panel, select Setup -> Network Settings -> Restore Network Defaults.

Power Cycle Devices:

  • Turn off both the printer and the Cox Panoramic WiFi modem.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Turn on the modem first and allow it to boot up completely.
  • After the modem is fully powered on, turn on the printer.

Disable MAC Address Filtering:

  • Access your Cox Panoramic WiFi modem settings through a web browser:
    • Open a web browser and enter the IP address of your modem (typically http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1).
    • Log in with your username and password (refer to your modem user manual for default credentials if you haven't changed them).
    • Navigate to the Advanced Settings and ensure that MAC address filtering is disabled.

Connect using WPS:

  • Use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) method to connect the printer:
    • On your printer, go to the Wi-Fi setup and select WPS (Push Button).
    • Press the WPS button on your Cox Panoramic modem. Hold the button for about 5 seconds.

Manual IP Assignment:

  • Sometimes manually assigning a static IP address to the printer can help:
    • On your printer control panel, go to Network Settings -> Wireless Settings -> Advanced Settings.
    • Select Manual IP and enter an IP address that is within the range of your network (e.g., 192.168.1.50).

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer firmware is up to date:

Kindly refer to this link to update your printer firmware.

I hope this helps.
