Welcome to the HP Support Community

HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer does not have Full-featured software for Windows XP.

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and Install the drivers, follow the steps below:

Remove the USB if connected

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, Click on this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-pro-8715-all-in-one-printer/... to download and install the HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer series Basic Driver.

Connect the USB only when prompted.

Try to print.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

No that does not work as the software will not load, when i connect the usb and follow the wizard it tells me the hardware connot be installed, there are no printers in programs and features or devices and when i use the run box the file cannot be found.

I have many devices running on this computer without any hassle how can this be so difficult.

Hi,

As you say the computer is not on the net, my first suggestion would be verifying its version.

The printer is supported on Windows XP Service Pack 3 only, not on any earlier version.

If you may not have Service Pack 3, it must be updated for the printer software to work:

Right-click My Computer and select Properties, ensure that you see Service Pack 3 listed, else you must update your operating system.

I have SP3 installed and as Raj suggested i have conntacted HP by phone (2 days to reply) and they were next to usless, they said i HAD to have the computer on the net for the printer to work and i should upgrade to 7, they insistead that my computer was at fault not thier printer software, since i have had this printer and doing research it seems to be a known problem so as i said to HP what do i do now, they said that there is nothing they can do. Very poor customer service
