HP OfficeJet Pro 9015 All-in-One Printer

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to install the printer driver, I am glad to assist you.

Did you uninstall the previous driver from root level before installing the new driver?

If not, follow these steps to fix the issue:-

Perform root level uninstallation to remove all the printer-related software's.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
  • Select your HP printer.
  • Select Uninstall.
  • In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
  • In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
  • Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
  • Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
  • Click on Drivers tab.
  • Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click Remove at the bottom.
  • Select OK.
  • Remove all instances of the same.
  • Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
  • Close Devices and Printers.
  • Restart the PC again

Thanks Sandy! I had done most of what you recommended unsuccessfully, then 2 over the phone HP Techs also tried and failed to load (or reload - still not sure what happened) the drivers). So I cancelled the tech plan HP signed me up for. Then I took my computer and printer in to Best Buy Geeks, where I have a TotalTech Plan, and within a few minutes, the tech there was able to solve the problem. Apparently the HP Smart & Download didn't have the drivers any longer for my 9015 and so couldn't complete a download (my OfficeJet 9015 is only 2 1/2 years old) and so he knew what resources to use to find the appropriate drivers and load HPSmart again (which I and the HP Techs had tried several times), on the spot. So, I am back up and running. My sensing is HP wants you to buy a new printer every couple years, so it retires the drivers for your 2 plus year old device. That being the case, next time I have this issue, I ill just replace my printer with a new shiney one (of some brand). I saw some pretty ones at Best Buy yesterday 🙂
