Officejet J3680
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I download software for my J3680 printer from you website, ran it, and it becomes hung in the first step, which is "checking system". The software runs indefinitely with the series of green bars floating repetitively to the right but nothing happens. Do I have the wrong software? It says it is for 32-bit but my computer is 64-bit Windows 10. The computer sees the printer and I can print documents. I'm trying to get some of the other features to work like the scanner for which I need the s/w.

While running downloaded s/w for J3680 printer, I get a never-ending message "checking system". The software runs indefinitely with the series of green bars floating repetitively to the right, but nothing happens. I have checked all the hardware and uninstalled all previous HP s/w, restarted, all the rest but still get this problem. What is wrong with this HP software?

Hi,
Follow the steps below and check if that resolves the issue:

1. If you have Mcafee software, open Mcafee software, from the Virus and Spyware Protection section click on Schedule and run scans. Click on Real-time scanning and then on Turn Off. select Never and confirm by clicking the Turn Off button.

As well be sure to temporarily disable any security software which may prevent the HP Installation
2. Open the run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type %windir% and click on OK.
3. Type hpoins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extension into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpoins1.old)
4. Type hpwins*.dat into the top search bar, if there are any results rename the extension into old instead of dat. (e.g. hpwins1.old)
5. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /UNREGISTER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
6. Launch the Run dialog by clicking both the Windows key and the R key on your keyboard. Type MSIEXEC /REGSERVER into the Run dialog and click on OK.
7. Reboot your PC and make sure your security software remains disabled
8. Run the installation file and check for any difference, be sure to use the latest installation source below:
https://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/COL32091/mp-111480-2/OJ_AIO_J3600_Full_Win_WW_140_408-4.ex...

9. Once you are done, be sure to open McAfee and re-activate Real-Time Scanning.

Hope that may help,
Shlomi
