HP OfficeJet 5220 All-in-One Printer

Hi,

I recently moved from Singapore to France and took my Officejet 5220 printer with me. Unfortnutalely the HP 63 cartridges are quite expensive in Europe, and considering my move is definitive, I'd like to change the region of the printer from Singapore to France in order to be able to use HP 302/304 cartridges I can easily purchase locally.

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Hi @lolimol,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you. Please note that HP Printers use different ink cartridges in different regions, and to use the ink cartridges sold in the current region, we need to change the region settings on the printer.

I request that you please get back to me with the following information so that I can help you change the region settings on the printer.

Do you still have the ink cartridges for both regions

Do you have a printer USB cable?

Which OS is on the PC? Is it Windows or Mac?

Do you have the printer's full-feature software and drivers installed on your PC?

Hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.

Hi VikramTheGreat,

Thx for reverting to me.

I have the ink cartridges for both regions (the HP 63 are empty but still there),

I have a USB cable and I'm running on Windows.

I don't have the printer's full-feature software installed on this PC yet, but will install them when required.

Thank you,

Hi @lolimol,

Thank you for confirming the details. Since you have the cartridges for both regions, a USB cable, and a Windows PC, we have what is needed to proceed.

Before we perform the Regional Reset, install the printer's full-feature software and drivers on the Windows PC. This will allow the printer to communicate properly with the computer during the process.

Important: If you still have usable ink in the old HP 63 cartridges, use that ink before performing the Regional Reset. Once the Regional Reset is completed, the cartridges from the previous region will no longer work with the printer.

After the reset, you can install and use the cartridges intended for the new region.

Step 2:

1) Launch the printer software from the desktop icon or, from the Start menu, click Start, All Programs, HP, the Product Name, and then the Product Name again.

2) Double-click the Estimated Ink Levels icon in the printer software. The Estimated Ink Levels window opens.

3) Press and hold the CTRL and SHIFT keys, and then right-click anywhere in the Estimated Ink Levels window, except for a button. The Set New Region window opens.

4) If the Set New Region window fails to open, right-click to the right and left of the Estimated Ink Levels window.

5) Take a screenshot of the screen and send it to me in private.
