HP Officejet 6958 - Won't factory reset through menu - need way to hard reset another way
My printer says it was shut down improperly, so I go ahead and shut it down like it tells me to do with the power button. When I turn it back on, then it prompts me with a message saying that there is paper jammed in the printer, which there is obviously not (I've checked everywhere there would be paper jammed). I resolve passed that issue. Then when I go to print, it fails to print, and I get the same "shut down improperly" message all over again. When I tried to factory reset my device, it accepted the command but never executed overnight (10+ hours) - still stuck on the factory reseting screen.
I see this issue has been raised before, but the solutions have all been shared through private message.

Hi @johnmnichols ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you are for the factory reset option through the menu is not working for your HP Officejet 6958, you can try a hard reset to see if it resolves the issue.
Here's how you can perform a hard reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer while the printer is still turned off.
- Wait for about a minute.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
- Turn on the printer.
This process should reset the printer to its factory settings.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
