Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Printer initially unable to print black.  Instead of cleaning print heads (which I eventually did and did resolve black printing issue) I reinstalled drivers.  Ever since I attempted my first reinstall I've received a "could not print error" everytime i try to print.  I've looked at multiple community support discussions trying all options including the recommended command prompts such as printui.exe /s. and also deleted individual files and subfolders from the x64 and W32X86 drivers in the windows/system32/spool/drivers folder.  I attempted a restore but only had one restore event which was after my first reinstall

Printer is on the network.  I can print a test report page from the computer and the printer prints from other computers in the house on the network.

The issue appears to be in the spool driver.  Every time i print the spool/PRINTERS folder has three files a .SHD, a .SPL and .TMP.  When I attempt to delete the folder, the .TMP files can't delete because it's open in printfilterpipelinesvc.exe.  Only way to delete is through task manager.

Correction to my initial post.  I CANNOT print a test page from the computer when I run HP Print and Scan Doctor, but can print a report under the tools option from the printer app.

@ScoJoNavy, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

If you are able to print a test report from the printer screen, it means the printer hardware is working fine.

Make sure the print spooler service is up and running on the computer.

Refer to this video on YouTube from HP.

Use the HP Smart app to print and scan from your Win PC

Thanks for the recommendation.  However, I had already attempted multiple spool restarts as well, none of which worked.

I did go back through the restore function and found an earlier restore milestone event.  After my second restore, I was able to print a document through the Word program, but was unable to access the HP Officejet printer through either the desktop shortcut or program menu.  After uninstalling and re-installing new drivers, I'm now back to full functionality.
