Thanks for asking, everything's fine.

 

Do I understand this correctly that your husband owns his own printer, also a HP OfficeJet Pro 6978 All-in-One Printer?

You own system is an Acer Aspire E5 Notebook and what system has your husband?
Is there any other HP software installed on his system?

Thank you for coming back to me on this usse.

 

As you know I have HP officejet all-in-one 6968

 

My husband has HP officejet all-in-one 6978

His laptop is Lenovo (cannot see which version except it is from 2013 and has thinkpad) and he runs Windows 8.1

There were/are several HP files when I was looking in Control panel - Programs

 

I removed some of them and as mentioned now it is the same problem as I had regarding printer saying there are missing drivers when I click on 'Scan' 

 

I hope you can suggest how to fix the printer so he can scan from the printer again

Hi Cathrine,

you need the full solution software for Win 8.1 (64-bit).

 

  1. First download only this complete package: "HP OfficeJet Pro 6970 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories ".
  2. Then the HP software must be completely uninstalled and removed of the system, see "Uninstalling the Printer Software (Windows) ".
  3. Restart the PC.
  4. Close all programs
  5. Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo > in folder Downloads click on the EXE,
    File name: OJ6970_Full_WebPack_40.12.1161.exe

Via USB, means wait until the installation asks to connect the printer/scanner.Document error messages, even better is a screenshot and upload here.The network configuration or the type of connection can be changed later, see here.

Your solution worked and now my husband can scan once again from the printer.
