Any time you used a non-HP cartridge... HP's software checks if it is foreign, and if so... they force the error code:
Officejet 7310 Error Message "Remove & check cartridge......."
Well, there isn't anything really wrong with the cartridge... you saved about 80% buying a remanufactured cartridge, so HP renders the printer inoperable... Don't ya just love HP?

I understand the post saying the problem is caused by installing non-HP cartridges. Is there a fix or a work around so that my printer will work again. I tried putting in two new HP cartridges and I still get the message "remove and inspect print cartridges." Tried cleaning the contacts as well as all the other posted fixes with no luck. I swapped cartridges with my HP 9800 (the 7310 and the 9800 use the same cartriges) and now my 9800 won't work either. If it is HP shutting me down for using LD cartridges and not telling me how to get the printers working again, that is not funny. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
