Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Our 7610 printer wont print as the above error message can't be removed from the printer screen to reestabIish the printing function.  I have spent a lot of time reading about this  problem on this Forum and elsewhere and tried a lot of workarounds suggested by HP and other users.  It would definitely seem there is an inherent problem with this printer and later models.

I spoke to HP 2 days ago and their advice was to buy another printer (after trying the basic turn off and on method to do a re-set).  I have manually re-set the printer, uninstalled and reinstalled the software/firmware on my W10 computer and even though I can re-establish the WIFI connection, seem to be able to scan to email, the computer can read all the data of the printer, the error message persists.   I agree with another Forum participant who said they cant believe these printers are just to be turfed out to landfill - what a shocking waste in this day and age when we are trying to avoid extra landfill.  This printer has not had a hard life - not many prints - bought for its A3 capability to save time going to a printing shop - it has been a total waste of time and money (we bought an extended warranty).

HP this is a frustrating problem that I think you should address having read through most Forum comments on this problem.  How about fixing it for us to restore faith in your brand?   There can't be much wrong (physically) as I know the printer is working - it is a software issue or an internal sensor issue.  We have had other A4 HP printers that have proven reliable - why not fix this one?

Anyone else have a workaround that I can try or know of a part I can purchase to fix this ???  Any help appreciated.

Defective printhead, it happens, replace the printhead or replace the printer.

Thank you very much Valsimot - I had also come to that conclusion too (just wish HP support had mentioned this even if they didn't have them in stock to sell - could have saved me many hours of troubleshooting).  I have managed to find one online which I think is a re-furbished unit so hope it works.  I will let you know.  By the way have read elsewhere that I should use genuine HP ink cartridges to set up the printhead rather than alternatives - do you know anything about this?   And lastly, if I can restore the printer to a working unit, do you have any recommendations for longevity of this printhead?  Should we use it as our main printer so we get more ink going through the printhead more regularly?  Is part of this issue, ink not being used regularly and causing inkjets to block/dry out??

Would appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks again.
