Hi,
since last Windows 10 update I can't get Printer Assistant app to funtion. Shortcut on desktop was deletet and when I press HP Officejet 7610 series icon under HP folder in start menu the DeviceSetup.exe app shows up instead of Printer Assistant.
I uninistalled and re-installed drivers several times but everything stays the same.
I can print and scan using HP app but it's really limited for my use.
Please help I'm going nuts 🙂

Hi @zwbgr
Can you try this Uninstaller from Microsoft and then reinstall the FULL feature software again?
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/fix-problems-that-block-programs-from-being-installed...
The following resource will help you :
http://123.hp.com/us/en/
Key in your printer model, Operating System and download & install the FULL feature software.
WIndows update can change stuff, reinstall WIn 10 only as the final and last resort, we normally wouldn't recommend that.
Thanks.

Hi,
Thanks for using the HP Forums.
Can you try this standalone scan software:
HP Scan Extended
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi
Once it's downloaded and installed, go to Start > All Programs > HP > HP Scan Extended > Run "HP Scan Extended"
Let us know if that works.

I tried and it doesn't work. Error pops out, something like "image capture device can't be found". Again, I can scan with HP Smart but it's funtionality is too limited.
Even if Scan Extended would work it wouldn't solve my problem. It's not only scan options that I need, there are other useful apps in Printer Assistant.

Hi,
You can try Webscan and the Embedded Web Server 9EWS) will have a host of tools like Ink levels etc.
These resources will show you how to setup and use Webscan:
Scanning Multiple pages from Chromebook
(Chromebook uses Webscan.)
Hope that helps!

Cool, but I still can't scan in 1200 dpi, can't customize paper size and can't scan multiple pages - maybe from ADF but not if I have to fisically turn the book pages.
I mean, these are the main reasons I bought this printer in first place and now you want to tell me I can't use these features and you won't even tell me what's the problem with updated Windows 10 and Printing Assistant?
Let me clear it: I want to use Printer Assistant (or app with equal funtions), not Extended Scan, not Chromebook, not HP Smart. Now tell me what I need to do to use it again. If I need to install previous version of Windows 10 or even 7, no problem, just tell me.
Sorry for my harsh language but I'm getting a little bit upset and angry with all this.

Can you provide the web page to this ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/scanners/HPScanExt/HPScanExt.msi (?) versus it automatically opening to run or download as you have it here? I would also like to read what this progam is about and looks like and where it gets installed and how to open it, etc.

Hi @HIuser3 ,
Thanks for using the HP Support Community.
The HP Scan Extended is a Standalone Scan software. It's only available via the FTP site.
If you prefer a 3rd party software, check out VueScan.
Hope that helps!
