I purchased this printer years ago and it was working great, until it wasn't. Had issues with it connecting to the printer through the network, and even though I can sometimes get it connected, the printer prints only a few lines of my requested document then uses multiple pages to try to print out the rest. These pages look like they're counting towards my Instant Ink profile as well, so I have about 20 pages on my account that are pages that are unusable for me.
I have uninstalled and tried to reinstall multiple times. I can get it to install via USB but it will only print as stated above. I have tried installing the network drivers and it fails everytime. What I've tried (at least 5 times):
- Uninstall HP programs
- Uninstall drivers via Print Management
- Install via HP Easy Start
- Install via HP Smart
- HP Print and Scan doctor
- Factory Reset printer
None of these can install the network drivers, it just takes a long time then errors out.
This is out of warranty, so I'm probably going to just buy a new printer if I can get this solved this week

Hi @chairhome,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like you've been through quite a few troubleshooting steps already. Since you've tried multiple methods and are still facing issues with the network connection and printing quality, here are a few additional steps you can take.
Check Network Settings:
Verify Wi-Fi Settings: Ensure that your printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network. You might need to re-enter the Wi-Fi credentials.
Restart Router: Sometimes, simply restarting your router can resolve connectivity issues.
Clean Install of Printer Drivers:
Manual Driver Download:
- Go to the HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 Printer Support page.
- Download the full-feature driver and software package for your printer model.
Disconnect Printer: Unplug the USB cable from your printer if it's connected.
Uninstall Existing Drivers:
- Open Control Panel > Programs and Features.
- Uninstall any existing HP printer software.
Install New Drivers:
- Run the downloaded driver package.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to install the drivers and connect the printer when prompted (preferably via Wi-Fi).
Restart: After installation, restart your computer and printer.
Printer Maintenance:
Clean Printhead: Print quality issues can sometimes be due to clogged printheads. Refer to your printer manual on how to clean the printheads.
Firmware Update:
- Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support page.
- Update the firmware following the instructions provided.
HP Print and Scan Doctor (Again):
- Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool again. This tool can sometimes resolve common printing and scanning problems.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for the response. Unfortunately, I have tried all of these solutions already.
I am able to connect to the network, but it doesn't allow me to "install" the network drivers, as it fails everytime.
I have downloaded the full-feature driver package and tried to install through there, I have also tried to install through EasyStart and HP Smart.
Printer maintenance is not an issue, it keeps asking me to align the printhead when i restart it, or to print a test page, and these always turn out fine.
I have run HP Print and Scan numerous times.
Even with a factory reset, I am unable to install the drivers and run it.
