I have owned an Officejet Pro 7440 printer for several years, and I am running Windows10 64-bit. Recently, I have started having problems with the printer refusing to print in color. I have uninstalled the driver and re-installed it numerous times. After re-installing it will print in color. What I have found through much trial and error is that if I select "Best" printing mode, color printing is disabled. Even if I go back to "Normal" printing mode, it will not print in color. I must uninstall and then re-install the driver to be able to print in color again.
It certainly seems like a driver issue. I downloaded the latest version of the driver from the HP support today and installed it. Same problem!
Why can I not print in color with print quality set to "Best" and why does color printing become completely disabled and require the driver to be uninstalled and then re-installed?
