Newly installed Officejet Pro 8122e All-in-one printer, work swell except that output tray does not pull out far enough for A4 paper. The printed paper does not lie flat but curves up over the end of the tray. As fas as I can see the output tray is pulled out as far as it will go.

Hi @paulbayleaf,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the output tray on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8122e might not be extending properly. Here are a few things you can try to resolve this issue.
- Check the Tray Extension Mechanism: Ensure there are no obstructions or debris preventing the tray from extending fully. Sometimes, small bits of paper or other debris can interfere with the mechanism.
- Adjust Paper Guides: Verify that the paper guides inside the tray are properly adjusted to fit A4 paper. Misaligned guides can cause the paper to curl or not sit properly in the tray.
- Consult the Manual: The printer's user manual might have specific instructions on adjusting or extending the output tray. If you don't have a physical copy, you can usually find a digital version on the HP website.
- Printer Settings: Ensure that the printer settings on your computer are configured correctly for A4 paper size. Sometimes incorrect settings can affect how the printer handles paper.
- Update Firmware: Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer. Manufacturers occasionally release updates to fix bugs or improve performance.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for you reply. But as far as I can see the output tray is designed this way, there is no obstruction, the output tray is fully extended. The paper guides are correctly adjusted; there is nothing relevant in the manual; the printer settings are correct; the firmware up to date. Printing is fine. Looking at videos of this, and similar HP printers, A4 paper rides up and over the end of the output tray. I bought the HP 8122e to replace an HP 8500A - that had an output tray in which A4 paper would lie flat. So this short output tray on the HP 8122e seems to be as designed.
Regards
