Hi,

The HP Officejet Pro 8500 (A909a) features USB and wired network connectivity only, it does not offer any wireless capabilities and therefore does not list such options.

You may connect the printer to the network by plugging an Ethernet cable from the printer to your router.

You may find its specifications below:

Thanks,,,,, im curious as to why they show it on the web as "wireless" as well as having wireless setup instructions in the manual? Also, why have a "network settings" prompt on the screen?

The User Guide refer to the whole series, not to the specific model only, it also include the 8500 Wireless (A909g) and 8500 Premium (N909n) which offers wireless capabilities:

Set up the device for wireless communication (some models only)

You have a Network Settings section as your printer do support network capabilities, just not wireless (Wired Ethernet connection).

Cheers,
