Thank you SO very much for taking the time to post the step by step instructions. It worked. I could not use my printer from home all week and could not figure it out. You are a Blessing.

Thanks so much for taking the time to post this!! I'd been pulling my hair out for two days trying to figure this out. My printer is likely on the back end of its useful life, but still functional for what I need for my home office. I'm not concerned about having the very latest software/firmware updates - just having it work when I need it. Thanks again sir!

Great work around. I'm, however, enrolled in the Instant Ink program and when those cartridges are installed in the printer, the option to disable automatic updates becomes inactive. Any ideas that don't require eating four ink cartridges that are half full? Thanks......

I have the exact same problem using a Windows computer. I have also tried all of the same steps you have including resets, changing IP address and info, etc. We need an answer from HP as there must be an issue with their most recent update. I too see it download to 100% but then say it was unable to download. Hit OK to cancel then does it again in 5-10 minutes. Keeps the screen on all day and night with the error message. Only way to print is to hit OK wait for restart and hopefully print before this loop happens over and over again.

Thank you RickEZ for posting such detailed instructions you received from support. After dealing with this for a week without any suggested solutions working, I'm happy to say your solution seems to be working. Greatly appreciate it! Now just wondering if it will have any impact on instant ink program but for now I'm just glad to be out of the endless loop of it failing to update!!
