officejet Pro 9020

Hi. Its about a month the printer randomly starts printing random characters but also device information like:

GET/ HTTP/1.1

Connection: keep-alive

User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0

Accept-Encoding: gzip, deflate

Accept-Language: es-US

The print is connected via wifi. It has been in use for 5 months and this problem has not occurred.

I tried updating drivers, uninstalling printer, but nothing seems to work.

Any word of advice will be appreciated!

Hi @Dielord81,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It's frustrating when you encounter printing issues with your HP Officejet Pro 9020, especially after it has been working fine for several months. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem of random characters being printed.

Check for Connectivity Issues:

  • Ensure that the printer is still connected to your Wi-Fi network. Sometimes, a weak or unstable Wi-Fi connection can result in corrupted print jobs.

Restart Your Printer:

  • Turn off your printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait for a minute or two. Then, plug it back in and turn it on. This can help clear any temporary glitches.

Update Firmware:

  • Check if there is a firmware update available for your HP Officejet Pro 9020 on the HP website. Updating the firmware can resolve compatibility issues and improve printer performance.

Check Print Settings:

  • Ensure that your print settings are correct. Make sure you're printing the document using the appropriate settings, such as page size and orientation.

Try a Different Document:

  • Print a different document or file to see if the issue is specific to a particular document. If other documents print fine, the problem may be with the file itself.

Use a Different Application:

  • Try printing from a different application or program to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, software-related issues can cause printing problems.

Clear Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer and cancel any pending print jobs. Then, try printing the document again.

Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the printer drivers completely from your computer and reinstall them from the official HP website. Make sure to download the latest drivers compatible with your operating system.

Test on Another Device:

  • If possible, try printing the problematic document from another computer or device to determine if the issue is specific to one device.

Reset the Printer:

  • You can try resetting the printer to its default settings. Refer to the printer's user manual or HP's support website for instructions on how to perform a factory reset.

By following these steps, you should be able to diagnose and potentially resolve the issue of random characters being printed on your HP Officejet Pro 9020.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

I tried everything in your reply but nothing seems to work.

I recall that this start happening after a power off several times during a night storm.
