The older HP printers are better built. That's why many of us still use them. However both HP and Microsoft no longer support them. CaptainClaptrap has generously provided us with a workaround. Download and unzip the following into a folder ("OldHPprinters"):
[content removed.]
Even though the zip is titled Laserjet5, the download has drivers for all the older HP printers. Do the following to gain access to all the older HP printers and install yours:
1. Click on "Add a Printer or Scanner"
2. Click on "The printer that I want isn't listed"
3. Select "Add a local printer....with manual settings" then click on Next
4. Wait for search to finish. Choose a printer port. Probably you're connecting via USB so select virtual port. Make sure no other device is already connected to the USB port you select.
5. You won't see your printer in the list of Printers. Click on Have Disk
6. Browse to the folder with the unzipped files "OldHPprinters"
7. Click okay. Now you will see all the old HP printers listed. Select your printer and voila!
Thanks Captain Claptrap!!!!
