Product: HP OfficeJet 8702 All-in-One Printer

I just installed a genuine HP 952XL cartridge (very expensive) that have always worked in the past.  I get an "older generation cartridge" error message and I can not print.  I have several more packages of these cartridges.  Is there an option to downgradae my firmware so they will work?  Can I get refunds or replacements on my cartridges?
