It seems like I am not the only one having this issue. My printer was working just fine yesterday and for some reason it will not print or scan today. I got an error message stating that the print job had stopped 'Filter' failed, and "One or more components of the HP printing software are corrupted or missing. The print job cannot be completed. To fix this situation, HP recommends reinstalling the print driver software."
I've uninstalled and reinstalled the driver directly from the HP website and restarted my laptop at least 5 times already today! I even updated my operating system to macOS Catalina version 10.15.7 (newest version) thinking that would fix the problem. Then went through the restart, uninstalled, and reinstalled the driver and nothing; same error message when I would try to print. I've pretty much spent all day trying to fix this and with no luck! My printer was working perfectly yesterday and for YEARS!!!... and then this happens. I really do not want to buy a new one. What is going on? HELP!

Hi @Seenu23,
I'd like to help!
Try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Uninstall the printer software -
1. Click Finder in the Dock.
2. In the menu bar, click Go, click Applications, and then open the HP or Hewlett Packard folder.
a) If HP Uninstaller is in the folder, double click it, and then follow the on-screen instructions to uninstall the software.
b) If HP Uninstaller is not in the folder, continue to the next step.
3. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.
4. In the menu bar, click Go, click Go to Folder, type /Library/Printers, then click Go.
The Printers folder opens.
5. Click and drag the HP or Hewlett Packard folder to the Trash icon in the Dock.
6. Restart the Mac.
7. Right-click or Ctrl + click the Trash icon, and then select Empty Trash.
Install the printer software -Software and drivers for HP Photosmart Plus All-in-One Printer series - B209
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Same is happening to me! Very frustrating,,, I get the same error about a filter and this message:
One or more components of the HP printing software are corrupted or missing. The print job cannot be completed. To fix this situation, HP recommends reinstalling the print driver software."

Exact same problem: printer has been working for years, all of a sudden within the past 2 days has stopped working. Have tried everything. On a mac with OS 10.4.6 Mojave. Clearly Mac or HP did an update and screwed up.
Edit: on a HP officejet 4500 Wireless (though i connect via USB since the wireless function has never worked to my memory).

Same problem here. Mac OS Catalina 10.15.7 (most recent). Using HP OfficeJet 7410 All-in-One (7400 series). Get a "Stopped - 'filter' failed" message. Clicking the info button gets:
One or more components of the HP printing software are corrupted or missing. The print job cannot be completed. To fix this situation, HP recommends reinstalling the print driver software.
Tried resetting printer system, downloading and installing the latest drivers, and then adding the printer back in (both via USB and wireless). Get the same message again and again.
Please help!

I had Apple on the line for three hours on Saturday late afternoon, October 24th to no avail. They are working on a fix and they say there should be a system update in a few days. (I am on Catalina 10.15.7 trying to print on a HP Deskjet 3050.) This can make a person crazy.
