I was printing some documents and when I got to my next set a message popped up on the printer and monitor saying Out of Paper, Load paper and push paper tray forward to close. Then it said "HP recommends ColorLok papers for best printing results"
There was no recent update to the computer or printer I had been printing now 5 mins before and there was paper in the tray. I've loaded and reloaded the paper, got new paper and nothing. Powered the printer off and still nothing. Tried printing from my laptop and still got the same error message. I don't know what else I should be doing.

Hi @arobins1011,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I'm sorry to hear you're dealing with this frustrating issue—especially since everything was working smoothly just a few minutes earlier.
Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.
Check the paper, and then reload it
- Check the paper stack for defects such as wrinkled, torn, or bent pieces that might cause a pick-up issue.
- Remove any paper from the paper tray.
- Remove any severely bent, wrinkled, or torn paper found in the stack.
- Check for obstructions inside the paper tray. Make sure nothing blocks the paper from engaging with the rollers.
- Make sure the paper stack is even on all sides.
- Load the stack of paper into the paper tray.
- Close or push in the paper tray.
- Select the correct paper size on the printer control panel or in the printer software.
