I am waiting for an ethernet switch to be able to test the software installation without internet access. Will keep you informed 🙂

I agree with the previous posts: HP released an update that freeze our pirnters and do absolutely nothing to help. I'm lucky you are here so we can find a solution 🙂

Have a nice day.

I also have the same issue since the same day on my HP Pagewide 377dw.

Look like an update that ruined my printer ...

I have posted in several threads how to fix this by rolling back the firmware. Search out the instructions. You need to either turn off the wireless on the printer if you can or temporarily disable your home wireless while applying the fix.

I was able to roll back and get the printer working by integrating several of the replies here.

My setup is the printer is connected by ethernet cable and the wireless is off

For me the following worked:

  1. Downloaded the Firmware from HP site (HP PageWide Pro 477dw Multifunction Printer series Firmware Update Version 2313A Release Date May 9,2023)
  2. Amended the PW477DW_2313A.exe file name to PW477DW_2313A.zip
  3. Using 7-Zip extracted the files (note the standard windows zip file isn’t able to do this)
  4. Copied the ful2 file to a USB stick maverickdw_dist_pp1_001.2313A_nonassert_appsigned_lbi_rootfs_secure_signed.ful2 (note some users say it must be the only file on the USB)
  5. Turn off the HP PageWide Pro 477dw printer
  6. Remove ethernet cable
  7. Insert the USB to the printer
  8. Turn on the printer and keep pressing the power button till the screen comes on and goes blank and only the house, ? and arrow keys on the left are lit (note some users say you need to tap the screen to get to this mode whilst your hold down the power button)
  9. Access the hidden menu, by pressing house, arrow, house, house
  10. This will bring up a blue screen menu. Select MENU (bottom right) to bring up the DRIVE REFLASH screen and select OK (bottom left) – this reflashes the printer with the firmware on the USB
  11. Once complete the printer went to the normal menu.
  12. Turn off the printer, remove USB, reconnect the ethernet cable and power back on

All network and scan settings were retained and printer is back to working as normal

I’m tired of changing printers and this is the 3rd in past 5 years and it’s always been from HP updating software and making my working printer obsolete and telling me that it’s out of warranty. They are doing this on purpose. I’m going to talk to a lawyer on Monday and get their attention. They broke it they need to fix it not Mathew or anybody else.

This is the 3rd time I've tried this, and it appears to get stuck on "Verifying". It has been "Verifying" for over 12 hours now...

- Network is disconnected

- .ful2 file is the only file on the drive

- front and back USB ports have same result

Might I ask what partition table and drive format have you used? I formatted mine as FAT32 with MBR using Disk Utility on MacOS Ventura.

--Thanks

Waiting for my ethernet switch, i tried to print a page from another computer on which the printer was installed and whose software i did not desinstall to see if it would work.

It does not.

The printer freeze as soon as the computer tries to communicate.

I'm begining to think that the only thing we can obtain without HP help is a USB Key printer/scanner wich is a bit disapointing.

I'm really waiting for HP imput on this matter (and my ethernet switch just to be sure but i am less an less confident on finding a turn around without HP).

The validation should take less than a minute.

I had the same problem initially and re-did the unzipping and copying of the ful2 file and made sure it was the only file on the USB. Second time it worked okay.

The USB I was using was a 32Gb with FAT32 system with MBR

It works!!!!!!!!!!

Ethernet switch received and it finally works.

I put only my computer and the printer on the switch to be sure no internet access during the process.

I was falshing from factory but i did not worked, so i give a try to the flash with only the .fu2 file on the usb Key (as describe in previous posts).

I reinstall the software on my computer (the 38.9.1948_1 not the last one).

It worked.

I plug internet on the switch....still work.

Print a page...still works.

For the moment i will stay this way....won't try with the last software nor reinstal other computer. I will wait for an HP answer...
