HP LaserJet Pro 3001dwe Printer

My printer (Laserjet Pro 3001 dwe)  is connected to my home Wi-Fi network, and I've been able to find it and add it on my computer, but I can't print from it. When I try to print, the printer gives me error lights: the paper and power lights start blinking, and the attention light is on solid. According to the website, it looks like the printer is saying there's a paper jam, but I know that's not true, because when I press and hold the information button, the printer prints out an information/test sheet with no problem.

I don't think it's any sort of power issue, since the printer is able to print the test sheet, but I performed all the normal resets anyway (soft and hard reset) and made sure that the printer is plugged directly into the wall, not a surge protector. Am I reading the error messages correctly? Any advice or additional troubleshooting measures I should pursue? Thanks!

Hi @as207,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've done a thorough job with the basic troubleshooting steps. Given that the printer is able to print a test page but is having issues with regular printing, the error lights may indicate a different issue.

Here's a step-by-step approach to further diagnose and resolve the problem:

1. Check for Paper Jams Again

  • Double-check all paper paths, including the input tray, output tray, and any internal areas accessible by opening the printer’s doors. Sometimes small pieces of paper or debris can cause this issue.

2. Examine the Paper Tray and Paper

  • Ensure that the paper tray is properly seated in the printer and that the paper is loaded correctly. Make sure the paper is not too thick, curled, or damp.

3. Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Sometimes, outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. Go to the HP website, download the latest drivers for your model, and install them. If you already have the latest drivers, try reinstalling them.

4. Check Printer Status and Settings

  • Printer Status: Access the printer’s control panel or web interface (if available) to check for any additional status messages or settings that might indicate an issue.
  • Network Settings: Ensure that the printer is properly connected to your Wi-Fi network and that there are no connectivity issues.

5. Clear Print Queue

  • On your computer, go to the printer settings and check if there are any stuck print jobs. Clear the print queue and try printing again.

6. Perform a Printer Self-Test

  • Sometimes running a printer self-test or diagnostic from the printer’s control panel can provide more information or reset any internal errors.

7. Firmware Update Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Check if there’s a firmware update available for your printer on the HP support website. Firmware updates can resolve various printer issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
