I changed something in the printer in order to print color pictures.  Now I cannot undo, whatever and I get the message "paper type mismatch"

Hi @ceccelia,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for reaching out. I understand that after changing your printer settings to print color photos, you are now seeing a "Paper Type Mismatch" message and are unable to restore the previous settings.

This error usually occurs when the paper type or paper size selected in the print settings does not match the paper loaded in the printer. For example, if the printer is set to Photo/Glossy Paper but plain paper is loaded, the printer will display this message to prevent print quality issues.

Check the print settings:

  1. Open the file or picture you want to print.

  2. Select File > Print.

  3. Click Printer Properties, Preferences, or More Settings.

  4. Under Paper Type or Paper Quality, select Plain Paper (or match the setting to the paper loaded in the tray).

  5. Confirm the paper size matches the paper in the input tray (for example, Letter or A4).

Check the paper in the printer:

  1. Verify the correct paper is loaded in the input tray.

  2. Adjust the paper guides so they fit snugly against the paper without bending it.

  3. If you're using regular paper, make sure the print settings are not set to Photo or Glossy paper.

If the issue continues, please refer to the official HP guide for additional troubleshooting steps related to Paper Type Mismatch.

I hope this helps. Take care and have a great day!

I'm an HP Employee.
