I have a Photosmart 7520 that displays an error message on the screen that states it is out of paper. There is plenty of paper in the tray, I have unplugged the printer and left it sit for several days and it still displays the same message. Looking for advice on what to do next.

I see that you're experiencing the Out of Paper error message on the printer. I'd recommend you follow the steps from the document An 'Out of Paper' Message Displays on the Control Panel and the All-in-One Does Not Pick Up Paper to resolve the issue.
Additionally, Update the printer firmware
Download available firmware updates from the HP website
With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
If the issue persists, it could be a hardware failure. Please reach out to the HP Support in your region regarding the service options for your printer.

I am an HP Employee
