HP Pavilion 590-p0038
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I realised I needed updated drivers for the HP Photosmart C4400 as I was changing from Vista to Window 10.

Downloaded Drivers from HP website for Win10 and  it turned out they were for Win 8(?) . No mention was made of Win 8 up to this point.

Still progressed with prompts and eventually  the computer still would not see the printer.

Yet! via HP Scan & Print Dr. I was able to print a Test Sheet ?

This printer is a USB connected device and works fine.

Unfortunately the HP Chatline is not manned by live persons and just iterates.

Are there Win 10 Drivers that work and where from.

Please advise

Fixed.

After uninstalling the first download tried again and went into a menu behind that had a series of tick boxes you could untick that removed a lot of the bloatware that wasn't required. This cut down the download time considerably and it worked. At the end it asked me to do a Print Check which came out ok and so I went onto perform a pdf scan of a document, saved it to the desktop and emailed it from there, then deleted the scan off the desktop.

So a result.   I cannot analyse the whys and the wherefores' but it worked.

I have found this extra security a bit messy and it doesn't always work first time to log on even though I have been a member for 20 years.
