HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw
Microsoft Windows 11

I have dell laptop with ARM processor. My new HP Laser Color Printer MFP 179fnw will not print until I use HP Print & Scan Doctor. It shows Port match issue and after running for about 5 minutes it fixes the issue and then I can print. But when the printer is restarted it will agian show the Port issue which will be resolved after running the Print & Scan doctor. The surparising fact is that if after fixing the Port Match issue by the Print doctor, if I again run the Print & Scan doctor, it will again claim that there is a Port Match and after 5 minutes the issue is stated to be resolved. Please any one, there to help me in this respect.    I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver several times but the issue is still there.    Another surparising fact is that from mobile the Hp smart does not give any issue and the printing is done there.

Hi @Professor_Khan

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like you're dealing with a persistent "Port Match" issue on your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw when using your Dell laptop with an ARM processor.

Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve this problem:

1. Update Printer Drivers

  • Ensure you have the latest ARM-compatible drivers for your printer. Visit the HP Support website and download the appropriate drivers for your HP Color Laser MFP 179fnw.

2. Check Port Settings

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click on your printer and select Printer Properties.
  • Under the Ports tab, ensure the correct port is selected (e.g., WSD or TCP/IP).

3. Disable WSD Port

  • If your printer is using a WSD port, try switching to a standard TCP/IP port:
    • Go to Printer Properties > Ports > Add Port.
    • Select Standard TCP/IP Port and follow the setup instructions.

4. Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • While you've already used this tool, try running it after switching to a TCP/IP port to see if it resolves the issue permanently.

5. Check Firewall Settings

  • Ensure your computer's firewall isn't blocking the printer's communication. Add the printer as an exception in your firewall settings.

6. Test on Another Device

  • Since the HP Smart app works fine on your mobile device, test the printer on another Windows device to determine if the issue is specific to your ARM-based laptop.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
