Hi everyone, I was using fine an HP LaserJet Pro MFP 426fdw printer,(ProductF6W15A s/nEdited)
and a message on the screen told me that the "toner was low".
I changed the toner (it's original) and now it only shows the message: "Consumable memory error".
I put in the old toner, the one that was low on toner, but it throws the same error.
I have installed the latest firmware version "M426_M427_MFP_Series_FW_Update-20220414.nativeofficefonts"
downloaded from HP.
It seems to me that the firmware was updated and the error started. That's why I intend to install an older version,
to see if I can get the printer to work like before. Thanks in advance for your help.

@foca_azul Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP Laser Jet Pro MFO 426fdw.

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution. We hope our assistance has been helpful!

A "Consumable memory error" generally indicates an issue with the printer's ability to read the memory chip on the toner cartridge. Here are steps you can follow to resolve this issue:

  1. Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 30 seconds, and then plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear temporary errors.

  2. Inspect the Toner Cartridge: Ensure that the toner cartridge is correctly installed. Remove the cartridge and reinsert it to ensure it is seated properly.

  3. Check the Chip: Verify that the memory chip on the toner cartridge is clean and free of any debris. Gently wipe it with a lint-free cloth if necessary.

  4. Try a Different Cartridge: If possible, try using another toner cartridge to determine if the problem lies with the cartridge itself.

  5. Firmware Update: Ensure that the firmware update was successful. Since you have already installed the latest version, you might want to confirm the update by printing a configuration page that lists the firmware version.

  6. Factory Reset: As a last resort, consider performing a factory reset on the printer, being aware that this will reset your settings to the factory defaults.

I hope this helps!

Take care and have an amazing day!
