Hello,
I've search the available conversations regarding this issue, but must have missed the "fix".
I'm running Windows Pro 10 (64-bit)
An Officejet Pro 8600 Wireless--Shows up as HP3B418 (HP Officejet Pro 8600) under Devices and Printers.
Things get "stuck" in the print queue or don't print for several minutes, sometimes as long as 15-20 minutes, or print multiple times. Occasionally there's no problem, but that's rare.
I didn't have the issue until I ran the printer wirelessly.
I've updated the driver, but found the only one available comes up as HP Officejet Pro 8620e, which hasn't been updated since November 2015, I've rebooted countless times and turned the printer off and on.
I have to run service.msc frequently throughout the day or find the printer under Devices and Printers and run Troubleshoot for the printer.
I'm hoping someone has a fix, because this is completely interrupting my work flow!
TIA
Deb

Hey there! @Deb_Dennis, Thanks for stopping by the HP Support Forums!
I understand you have issues printing from your printer.
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Did you make any changes to your printer?
Are you able to make a copy from your printer?
Have you tried printing from a different application does the issue persist?
Please provide the operating system you are running on your PC to assist you better.
As you mentioned when you print from your printer the print job is getting stuck for 15-20 minutes.
Please try few steps recommended below.
Turn off the printer using the power button and then unplug the printer power cord from the power outlet.
Save your work. After using these steps, your current print jobs are lost and will need to be printed again.
Open Windows Services using one of the following methods:
Search Windows for services, and click Services in the list of results.
On your keyboard, press Windows key ( ) + R, type services.msc in the window that opens, and then click OK.
Scroll through the list of services and find the name Print Spooler.
Right-click Print Spooler and select Stop.
After the service has been stopped, close the service window and use Windows Explorer to browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS.
Delete all files inside the PRINTERS folder.
Shut down your computer from Windows.
Make sure your printer has been unplugged for at least 60 seconds, and then plug the power cord into a power outlet.
Turn on the printer using the power button on the printer.
Turn on the computer and wait for Windows to open.
Try printing again and note what happens.
If the issue still persists uninstall the printer software from root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features.
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers.
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.”
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo.
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom.
Select OK.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

Hi, MrRobot
Thank you for the reply. Here's where I am.
Did you make any changes to your printer? Yes - changed it to wireless
Are you able to make a copy from your printer? Yes
Have you tried printing from a different application does the issue persist? Yes
Please provide the operating system you are running on your PC to assist you better. Microsoft Windows Pro
As you mentioned when you print from your printer the print job is getting stuck for 15-20 minutes.
Please try few steps recommended below.
Turn off the printer using the power button and then unplug the printer power cord from the power outlet. OK
Save your work. After using these steps, your current print jobs are lost and will need to be printed again. OK
Open Windows Services using one of the following methods:
Search Windows for services, and click Services in the list of results. OK
On your keyboard, press Windows key ( ) + R, type services.msc in the window that opens, and then click OK. OK
Scroll through the list of services and find the name Print Spooler. OK
Right-click Print Spooler and select Stop. OK
After the service has been stopped, close the service window and use Windows Explorer to browse to C:\Windows\System32\Spool\PRINTERS. OK
Delete all files inside the PRINTERS folder. OK - there were several files.
Shut down your computer from Windows. OK
Make sure your printer has been unplugged for at least 60 seconds, and then plug the power cord into a power outlet.
Turn on the printer using the power button on the printer. OK
Turn on the computer and wait for Windows to open. OK
Try printing again and note what happens. Printer printed 5 documents and then stalled leaving these in the queue.
The above 2 documents printed after I ran Troubleshoot.
I sent 2 more documents to the printer and it stalled again. I ran Troubleshoot once more, both documents printed, but one document never cleared in the queue despite the fact it printed.
If the issue still persists uninstall the printer software from root level on your PC and install the full feature printer software.
In Windows, search for and open Programs and Features. OK
Select your HP printer.
Select Uninstall. I uninstalled all 4 items.
In Windows, search for and open Devices and Printers. OK
In the Devices and Printers window look for your HP Printer. If you see it listed, right-click on it and choose "Delete" or "Remove Device.” It wasn't there.
Open up the run command with the "Windows Key + R" key combo. OK
Type printui.exe /s and click OK.
Click on Drivers tab.
Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it click on it and click remove at the bottom. I tired to remove the driver only and got this error message.
I clicked on OK and got the following ...I clicked on Remove Driver and Driver Package. After selecting that option the 2nd screen shot here opened asking if I was sure I wanted to delete the 8600 Pro. I clicked on yes.
After selecting 'Yes' from the above screen shot I got the following message and clicked on 'Delete'.
After clicking on 'Delete' I got the message:
I was going to see if something was stuck in the print queue, but I can't look to see what’s printing because the printer has been deleted from the Devices and Printers window.
So now I’m stuck at this point and can’t follow your directions any further.
Can you please direct me as to how to proceed?
Thank you so much. I appreciate your help.
Select Apply and OK on the Print Server Properties windows.
Close Devices and Printers.

@Deb_Dennis, Thanks for your quick response and time.
I appriciate your efforts for writing back to us.
As you mentioned the issue still persists after trying out the steps.
Try the steps recommended below.
First, remove the printer in “Devices and Printers”
Go to start and type in printmanagement.msc:
Choose the printer driver you like to delete, but do not click ‘delete’ yet.
go to start and search for ‘services’:
Search for the Print Spooler.
Stop the print spooler service.
In registry open HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Print Processors\
Rename all Print Processors that are listed. Like Winprint to Winprint.old, Hpcpp107 to Hpcpp107.old.
Start the print spooler services again.
Remove the driver pack in Print Management MMC
Reopen the registry location HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Print\Environments\Windows x64\Print Processors\
Rename back all Print Processors back to Winprint.old to Winprint, Hpcpp107.old to Hpcpp107.
Restart print spooler
Install the printer drivers again.
Update the full feature printer software using this link: https://hp.care/2FXuT64
Note: Disable antivirus and download the software using google chrome.
If the solution provided worked for you, please mark accepted solution for this post.

Thank you, MrRobot for your help. After sending you the message with all the screen shots, I downloaded and installed the drivers again. (I didn't wait for your response as I needed to print something quickly...and was just hoping that reinstall the drivers would work.)
The good news is that it did. Everything seems be going through the print queue without any problems.
I never would have made it that far had it not been for your help.
