I have an HP Deskjet 3055a printer/scanner & have recently updated my iMac software to Sonoma 14.6.1
The printer has always been a challenge with each iOS software update, but I have always managed to find a workaround, but this time, I'm stumped.
I am trying to print an address label.
I can select the printer (there is only one to select), and it appears to send the item to the printer, a little thing comes up on my menu to tell me the item is printing, but nothing.
If I try to scan a document from the same printer, it can be done (so on some level it recognises the printer) but it will not print.
I have it connected via a USB cable and as I say, I've always managed to sort it out after every software update, but I cannot fathom what is wrong this time!
Can anyone suggest anything, please or should I bite the bullet and get a new printer?
Thank you.

Hi @ Mrs_Bear_51,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand the issue you're experiencing with your HP Deskjet 3055A e-All-in-One Printer after updating your iMac to macOS Sonoma 14.6.1 is likely due to driver compatibility problems that often arise after macOS updates.
Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:
1. Check Printer Status
- Ensure the printer is turned on and connected properly to your iMac via USB.
- Make sure there are no error messages or blinking lights on the printer.
2. Update Printer Drivers
- Download the Latest Drivers: Visit the HP Support website and check for the latest drivers and software for your printer model compatible with macOS Sonoma 14.6.1. Even if you have installed them previously, a newer version may have been released after the macOS update.
- Install HP Easy Start: HP Easy Start is an automated tool that can help install the necessary drivers for your printer. Download and run this tool from the HP Support website.
3. Reset the Printing System
This can clear out any corrupted print queues and printer settings:
- Open System Settings on your iMac.
- Go to Printers & Scanners.
- Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select "Reset printing system...".
- Confirm the reset, and then add your printer again.
4. Check for Firmware Updates Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Check if there is a firmware update available for your printer on the HP website. Sometimes, printer firmware needs to be updated to work correctly with new macOS versions.
5. Use AirPrint if Available
- AirPrint: If your printer supports AirPrint, try setting it up to print using this feature. AirPrint is built into macOS and does not require additional drivers.
6. Test with Different Applications
- Try printing from a different application to see if the issue persists. Sometimes, the problem can be specific to the application or document type.
7. Try Another USB Port or Cable
- If you're using a USB connection, try using a different USB port on your iMac or a different USB cable to ensure it's not a hardware issue.
8. Check Printer Queue
- Open System Settings > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer and open the print queue.
- Check if there are any paused print jobs or error messages. Clear any paused or stuck print jobs.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
