Hi @Mrraju,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

When the "Print directly to the printer" option is greyed out despite having admin access, it may be due to several reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve the issue.

Check Printer Driver:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer driver installed. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

Printer Properties:

  • Right-click on your printer and select "Printer Properties."
  • Go to the "Advanced" tab.
  • If the option is still greyed out, ensure you are running the printer management console with administrative privileges. You can do this by right-clicking the "Devices and Printers" icon and selecting "Run as administrator."

Printer Spooler Service:

  • Ensure the Print Spooler service is running. You can check this by:
    1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Scroll down to "Print Spooler" and ensure it is set to "Running" and the startup type is set to "Automatic."
  • Restart the Print Spooler service if necessary.

Group Policy Settings:

  • Sometimes, group policy settings can prevent changes to printer properties.
    1. Press Win + R, type gpedit.msc, and press Enter.
    2. Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Printers.
    3. Look for any settings that might be restricting access to printer properties and modify them accordingly.

User Permissions:

  • Even with admin access, there could be specific user permission settings that need adjustment.
    1. Right-click on your printer and select "Printer Properties."
    2. Go to the "Security" tab.
    3. Ensure your user account has full control permissions.

Update Windows:

  • Make sure your operating system is up to date with the latest updates and patches, as updates can sometimes resolve such issues.

Reinstall Printer:

  • If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the printer.
    1. Go to "Devices and Printers."
    2. Right-click on the printer and select "Remove device."
    3. Restart your computer.
    4. Reinstall the printer.

By following these steps, you should be able to resolve the issue of the "Print directly to the printer" option being greyed out.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
