Microsoft Windows XP

The software installed OK and shows that it connected to the device.  It asked if I wanted to print a test page. (yes).  Got an error message "Print filter pipeline error."  I re-installed it two times.  Same thing.  What do I do with this situation?

@amosbanjo, Welcome to the HP Support Community! I’m here to help.

To assist you better, what model printer are you using?

Refer to this document to know how to find the Product Name or Product Number.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose and fix any driver issue

Click here to download the file. Once downloaded, make sure to run the file to start the installation and click on 'Fix printing'.

If the issue persists, proceed to the next step.

Install the printer using Windows built-in driver

Refer to this document to know how. Try printing. Use Deskjet 990c driver if your printer is not listed.

Refer to this document HP printer setup (Windows built-in driver) for help.

@amosbanjo

Thank you. did you run HP Print and scan doctor app as mentioned in my previous post?

  • Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?

If the error persists,

Uninstall the HP printer-related driver. Restart the PC

Are you using Win XP 32-bit or 64-bit? Based on this, click here to download the full feature printer driver. Choose the right OS version.

Let me know how it goes.
