Just installed 2800e series. test pages print correctly. However, when I try to print a document from the print screen on word on my Mac, I don't even get the option for color or b&W - only prints B&W. I've checked the installation, cartridges, etc.

Hi @LisaG17603,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP 2800e series printer only prints in black and white from your Mac, and you’re not seeing an option to select color, there are a few things you can check and adjust. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
1. Check Printer Preferences in macOS
Open Print Dialog:
- Open the document you want to print.
- Go to File > Print (or press Command + P).
Select Printer:
- Ensure that your HP 2800e series printer is selected.
Access Printer Settings:
- Click on Show Details if it's available. This expands the print dialog to show more options.
Printer Presets:
- Look for a dropdown menu that might say Copies & Pages or similar. Click on it and select Printer Features or Media & Quality depending on your macOS version.
Color Options:
- Check if there’s an option for Color or Grayscale. Make sure Color is selected. If it's only showing Black & White or Grayscale, it might be a driver issue.
2. Check Printer Settings on the Printer
Printer Control Panel:
- If your printer has a control panel, navigate to the settings to ensure it’s not set to print in black and white by default.
Printer Menu:
- Access the Menu or Settings on the printer and verify that color printing is enabled.
3. Update or Reinstall Printer Driver
Check for Driver Updates:
- Go to the HP Support website and search for the latest drivers for your HP 2800e series printer.
Download and Install Driver:
- Download the latest macOS driver for your printer model and install it. This can help resolve issues where certain print options are missing.
Reinstall Printer:
Remove the Printer:
- Go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
- Select your printer and click the minus (-) button to remove it.
Re-add the Printer:
- Click the plus (+) button to add your printer back. This will reinstall the driver and may restore missing print options.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
