HP LaserJet MFP M234dwe Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Dear Company,

Unfortunately, this is the second time I have purchased the LaserJet MFP M234d, and the same issue has occurred again. After a power outage, it would not connect to the Wi-Fi, and the information light remains on constantly, making the printer unusable. What should I do, or is this a known series defect? I am very dissatisfied that the same issue has occurred for the second time.

Hi @Heroland,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet MFP M234d printer is not connecting to Wi-Fi and the information light remains on constantly after a power outage, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer and Network Devices

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Power off the printer using the power button.
  • Unplug the printer from the power source.

Restart Network Devices:

  • Unplug your router and modem.
  • Wait for at least 30 seconds to 1 minute before plugging them back in.

Power On the Printer:

  • Plug the printer back into the power source.
  • Turn the printer on and wait for it to complete its startup process.

2. Check Printer’s Network Connection

Verify Printer Network Settings:

  • On the printer’s control panel, access the network settings menu.
  • Ensure that the Wi-Fi is enabled and the printer is attempting to connect to the correct network.

Print a Network Configuration Page:

  • Locate and print the network configuration or status page from the printer's menu. This page will show if the printer is connected to the network and provide the current IP address.

Reconfigure Network Settings:

  • Navigate to the wireless setup or network settings on the printer.
  • Select the option to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network and enter the correct Wi-Fi credentials.

3. Update Firmware

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • Visit the HP Support website and search for your printer model.
  • Download and install any available firmware updates that might address connectivity issues.

Use HP Smart App:

  • If you have the HP Smart app installed, open it and check for firmware updates directly through the app.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
