HP DeskJet 4152e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I purchased a new HP laptop, which had Windows 11 pre-installed in February 2025. Shortly after, I purchased the printer noted above.

When I attempt to print a Word document that contains a page border, the bottom of the border does not print, This is the same result from printer from my laptop (Win 11) or via Mobile (Samsung S22, Android). I have tried different settings, no change. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

@Stofty, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're experiencing an issue where the bottom border of your Word document isn't printing on your HP DeskJet 4152e, whether from your Windows 11 laptop or your Samsung S22 mobile device. This is a common issue related to printer margin limitations, especially with inkjet printers.

Check Printable Area Settings

Most HP DeskJet printers have a non-printable margin at the bottom (typically around 0.5 inches or 12.7 mm). Word may be placing the border too close to the edge.

  • In Word:
    • Go to Layout > Margins > Custom Margins.
    • Set the Bottom margin to at least 0.5 inches (12.7 mm).
    • Click OK and try printing again.

Adjust Page Border Settings in Word

  • Go to Design > Page Borders.
  • Click Options.
  • Under Measure from, select Text instead of Edge of page.
  • Make sure the bottom margin is not set too close to the edge.
  • Click OK and try printing again.

Update Printer Firmware and Drivers

Ensure your printer firmware and drivers are up to date:

  • Official HP® Support
  • Select your OS (Windows 11) and download the latest Full Feature Software and Driver.
  • For firmware updates, scroll down to the Firmware section.

Print from HP Smart App (Mobile)

When printing from your Samsung S22:

  • Use the HP Smart app (available on the Play Store).
  • Open the document in the app and check Print Preview.
  • Tap More Options and ensure Fit to Page or Scale to Fit is enabled.

Try Printing as PDF

Sometimes converting the Word document to PDF helps:

  • In Word, go to File > Save As > PDF.
  • Open the PDF and print using Adobe Acrobat Reader or HP Smart.
  • This can sometimes bypass Word’s formatting issues.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
