HP ENVY 6055e All-in-One Printer
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy  6055e stopped printing from one my PCs. My OS is windows 10. I'm up to date on Windows updates. I can print from other PCs w/o issues.

I removed the printer using the OS tools. I tried to reinstall with HPSmart and it has issues installing the driver. I tried installing using the OS tools and it has issues installing the driver. When I look up the printer in the device manager it shows up under Unknown Devices. When I right click to update the driver I get a message stating:

HP Envy 6000 series PCL -3 - An error occurred during the installation of this device: The driver cannot be installed because it is either not digitally signed or not signed in the appropriate manner. Contact your hardware vendor.

I've uninstalled HPSmart and downloaded the lasted. Removed printer. Removed Unknown Device. Tried to install via HPSmart and OS . Same issue. Downloaded other software from HP Support. Repeated remove/install cycle. Same issue. Of course my printer warranty ended on 8/17/22.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

RW

Hi @silverbackit,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

As I understand the device isn't installing the printer driver due to the message - "The driver cannot be installed because it is either not digitally signed or not signed in the appropriate manner. Contact your hardware vendor.", Don't worry as I'll be glad to help, however, to provide an accurate resolution, I need a few more details:

  • Have you attempted to change the user access control (UAC) settings on the user account, disable it and check if this works?
    • If not, please do and let me know how it works.

While you respond to that, here's what you need to do:

I recommend you delete the driver at the root level and retry, follow the steps below:

1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features

2.) Select your HP Printer

3.) Select Uninstall

4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers

5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose `Delete' or `Remove Device'

6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.

7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between "printui.exe" and "/s")

8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab

9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom

10.) Select Ok

11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows

12.) Close Devices and Printers

Then, use this link to access the HP website, find the drivers compatible with your windows and install them: Click here

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
