This soluion does not work. Windows Update cannot find a driver for the printer. We need a solution where we can download and install the driver, not depend on Windows 10 trying to find it in their database.

Welcome to HP Support Community,

 

After reviewing your post, I did go through the Software and Driver download page of your HP DeskJet 6980 and found that there is no full feature software available for Windows 10.

 

If you wish to continue using Windows 10, then you would need to install Windows built in drivers. 

 

Simply turn on the printer and connect the USB cable from the printer to the PC. The drivers will be installed in 2-3 minutes. Go to Control panel - Devices and printers to check the printer entry and make it as default printer if needed.
