Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

All of a sudden my HP Laser CP1525nw Color printer disappeared from my Windows 10 computer printer list.  This is the printer I use every day at home.  Now the printer is gone from the list.  I have tried to find the driver for this printer online but it does not exist on the HP Support Printer Driver list.  How can I get back connected to this printer from my computer?

@Davey_Price-25, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Confirm the Printer's Status

Before diving into driver fixes:

Power cycle the printer—turn it off, wait 10 seconds, and turn it back on.

Check network connection—if it's a network printer (wired or wireless), make sure it’s still connected to your Wi-Fi or LAN.

Print a network configuration page from the printer (usually done from the control panel buttons) to confirm IP address and network status.

Add the Printer Manually via Windows

Go to Start > Settings > Devices > Printers & scanners.

Click Add a printer or scanner.

Wait a moment — if it doesn’t appear, click “The printer that I want isn't listed”.

Choose “Add a printer using a TCP/IP address or hostname”.

Enter the IP address of the printer (from the config page).

If Windows doesn’t detect it, click Have Disk when prompted for drivers.

Download and Install the Correct Driver

Go to HP Support: HP LaserJet Pro CP1525nw Color Printer Software and Driver Downloads | HP® Support

Choose Windows 10 (32-bit or 64-bit) based on your system.

Download all the latest drivers available.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Thanks for your instructions.  They are much appreciated. I never set this printer up as a network printer so I can’t get any address to use with the screen with that option to find and load the printer driver.  I have tried everything you listed otherwise but there simply is no driver available from HP for this older printer. I can’t figure out why HP abandoned this printer. I just spent over $200 for 4 new HP toner cartridges for it. Seems as is HP wants me to buy a new printer. Given I use it every day in teaching my math and science classes from home, I just gave up yesterday and bought a new printer from an HP competitor. I have never bought anything other than a HP printer so this will be a new experience for me.  I honestly worked on this issue for about 2 weeks now and never found a driver. I didn’t want to download anything from a 3rd party website due to virus risks. Anyway sorry for the long post. Again thanks for trying to help me.

Hey @Davey_Price-25,

Thank you for your response

I’m sorry for the frustration you’ve experienced. I understand how important your printer is for your work. Unfortunately, older models sometimes lose driver support.

Thanks for sticking with HP, and good luck with your new printer!
